Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Salazar Mendez (ranked 4965 p4p, 4237 weight class) and Joao Asuncao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Salazar Mendez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Asuncao!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendez gets tackled into the cage by Asuncao. Asuncao maintains the clinch.

Asuncao gets control of Mendez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Asuncao will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mendez won't allow Asuncao to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendez is fighting to break Asuncao's control of his arms but Asuncao is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Asuncao is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mendez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Asuncao to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mendez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Asuncao pulls down on the head and he's put Mendez to sleep! This one is all over!
