PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Jacquin (ranked 980 p4p, 855 weight class) and George Walker (ranked 145 p4p, 125 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Jacquin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, George Walker!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Walker is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Jacquin with a body shot.
Walker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Walker bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jacquin's head.
A jab from Walker misses.

Jacquin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Walker napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jacquin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Walker's legs.

Jacquin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jacquin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Walker is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jacquin off and has taken his back!

Walker is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jacquin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jacquin for a finish.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jacquin turns into Walker and is now in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Walker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jacquin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jacquin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jacquin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Walker is trying to control but Jacquin manages to pass to mount!
Walker is looking to improve his position but Jacquin isn't that keen on the idea.
Jacquin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Walker is looking to escape.

Jacquin has control of Walker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Walker regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jacquin prevents Walker from getting the reversal.
Jacquin tries to control but Walker wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jacquin working for a submission but Walker is keeping him at bay.
Jacquin wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Jacquin trying to control but Walker is having none of it.
Walker manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jacquin wants to free his trapped foot but Walker is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Jacquin dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Walker missing with a left hand there. Jacquin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jacquin takes a swing at Walker's ribcage but misses.
Nice defenses there by Jacquin.
Jacquin attempts a counter takedown but Walker avoids it well and moves away.
Jacquin connects with a right hand. Walker shakes it off.
Walker avoids the body shot from Jacquin.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Walker! But no joy.
Jacquin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Walker can do to turn this around?

Jacquin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jacquin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jacquin is looking to work his way around to Walker's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Walker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jacquin is working away from the top position though.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jacquin moves away from the strike by Walker.
Walker throws a jab when Jacquin was well out of range.
Jacquin swings for the body but Walker moves out of range.
Walker looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Jacquin tries to bum rush Walker with a series of wild strikes but Walker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jacquin ducks under a wild hook from Walker.
Jacquin misses the shot to the body.
Jacquin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Jacquin takes a swing at Walker's ribcage but misses.
Jacquin looks to score with a jab to the body but Walker is just out of range.
Walker's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jacquin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Walker scrambles back to his feet.
Walker avoids the body shot from Jacquin.

Jacquin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Walker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jacquin controls the pace.
Walker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jacquin has Walker pulled in close to control his posture.

I would just about give that final round to George Walker.
