Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Nickal manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McStafferson on his heels. He'll look to pass McStafferson's guard now, I'm sure. Nickal slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Nickal (5) vs (0) McStafferson McStafferson is looking to reverse the position. Nickal advances nicely into full mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Nickal (7) vs (0) McStafferson McStafferson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Nickal is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. McStafferson is in real trouble.
Score +3 for taking back: Nickal (10) vs (0) McStafferson The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nickal keeps control of the position as McStafferson tries to break free.
Nickal is looking to control McStafferson but McStafferson is wriggling around and keeping busy. Nickal is hanging on to McStafferson's back as he tries to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McStafferson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. McStafferson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Nickal is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! McStafferson is tapping out! This one is all over!
