Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askren (ranked 4235 p4p, 5736 weight class) and Rashad Denson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Askren has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ben Askren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rashad Denson! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Denson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Askren's waist but Askren gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Denson off to one side.
Askren shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Askren is keen to just control but Denson is a slippery customer. Askren passes to side control.
Askren is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Denson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Askren is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Denson has escaped the position, nice work there. Askren trying to control the action but Denson is working from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round.

Askren thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Askren swings around for an armbar but Denson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Askren's guard. Askren on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Askren tries to get out of the position.
Denson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Askren manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Denson has Askren in his guard.
 Denson looks winded! Askren working some strikes from top position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Askren looking to pass the guard. Askren passes into half guard. Askren looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Askren takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Denson is looking for a sweep. Askren is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Askren lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Denson quite badly. Denson pulls Askren in close trying to recover. Askren postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Denson on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Denson doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Askren!
