Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Rhat (ranked 2900 p4p, 4054 weight class) and John Robinson (ranked 381 p4p, 502 weight class). Rhat comes to the cage accompanied by Das Ist It. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jim Rhat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Robinson! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhat moves into range and clinches up with Robinson. Rhat has hold of one of Robinson's legs. Robinson is fighting the takedown attempt but Rhat gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Rhat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rhat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Rhat has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Rhat throwing strikes from guard but Robinson blocks nicely. Rhat trying to control but Robinson is working from the bottom. Rhat is pushing down on Robinson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Robinson is fighting to maintain full guard but Rhat has managed to sneak the leg through. Rhat not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Robinson wants to control but Rhat is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rhat is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rhat is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Robinson sees it coming and defends easily. Robinson is trying to maintain the position but Rhat is very close to passing his half guard. Rhat is looking for a kimura but Robinson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rhat to get the leverage. Rhat passes the guard and advances to mount! Rhat tries to control but Robinson wriggling away. Robinson tries to hold on but Rhat postures up. Rhat has hold of Robinson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Robinson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhat controlling his opponent. Rhat tries to control but Robinson wriggling away. Rhat looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Rhat wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Robinson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rhat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rhat tries to push Robinson's head away but Robinson is holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhat is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Robinson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rhat trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rhat moves to the back position. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Rhat's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Robinson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Rhat's arms. Rhat is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Robinson is defending well though. Rhat let's go of the attempt for now. Rhat working for a choke but Robinson is defending well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Robinson fending off the submission attempt from Rhat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Rhat dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Robinson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rhat cracks Robinson with a right hand to the side of the head. Rhat tries to clinch but Robinson is having none of it. Rhat fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Robinson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rhat is trying to control Robinson's posture but Robinson avoids it. Rhat manages to get back to half guard. Robinson winds up and cracks Rhat with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Rhat tries to get to full guard but Robinson has control of the leg. Rhat is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Robinson can do to turn this around? Rhat regains full guard. Nicely done. Rhat on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rhat tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhat is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Robinson has his hands clasped together but Rhat extends and breaks Robinson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rhat.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Rhat! Jim Rhat decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
