PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xander Scott (ranked 417 p4p, 1048 weight class) and Wang Chung (ranked 11 p4p, 50 weight class). Scott kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xander Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wang Chung!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott tries to bum rush Chung with a series of wild strikes but Chung uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Chung throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scott staying out of range there.
Scott is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Scott lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chung.
Nice defenses there by Scott.
Scott jabs Chung right on the nose. Chung blinks but takes it well.
Scott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chung circles away quickly and effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chung fails to land with a series of punches.
Chung throws a jab but it's blocked by Scott.
It looked like Scott was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Scott counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Chung thinking.

Scott drops Chung with a left and a right! Oh, Chung is hurt - Scott dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Wang Chung has been cut.

Scott looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Chung wants to control but Scott postures up.
Scott has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Chung has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Chung is trying to improve his position.

Scott tries for a kimura but Chung is defending well.
Scott blocks the strikes from Chung.

Chung is trying to control Scott's posture but Scott avoids it.

Scott blocks the strikes from Chung.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Scott lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Scott throws a body punch but Chung moves out of range.
Chung is looking for the big counter here.
Chung tries to bum rush Scott with a series of wild strikes but Scott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Chung fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Scott avoids it really well and circles away.

Scott lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Chung misses with a body shot.
Chung swinging wildly here.
Chung bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chung fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Scott looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Scott throws a hook but Chung blocks it.
Scott misses with a hook. Chung ducked under it nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Scott scores with a nice right hand.
Chung avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Scott throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chung feints a counter leg kick.
Scott is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chung can do to turn this around?
Scott looks to score with a jab to the body but Chung is just out of range.
Xander Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chung manages to avoid it.
Chung moves forwards but Scott connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Chung shoots and misses

and Scott counters with a right hand that sends Chung tumbling to the canvas! Can Scott finish him? He dives into Chung's guard looking to do just that!

Chung is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scott is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Chung is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chung not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Chung is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Scott reverses the position - he's now on top in Chung's guard.

Scott is taking a breather. Chung says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Scott decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

letting Scott counter with a right hand.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Scott and Chung goes tumbling to the canvas! Scott follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Chung is still in real trouble! Can Scott finish him?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Scott is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Chung moves into full guard.
Chung seems to have recovered his senses.
Chung punching from the bottom.
Chung keeping moving, preventing Scott from controlling successfully.

Scott avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Chung trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Chung wants to hit a sweep here but Scott passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Chung there!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott wants to take Chung's back here but Chung is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Scott wants to finish this one by submission but Chung is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Scott.

Scott cracks Chung with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Scott lands with a hook. Chung tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Scott lands a really nice looking cross but Chung seems unphased.

and Scott scores with a counter punch that sends Chung to the canvas! Scott smells blood - he's punishing Chung with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Chung has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Xander Scott!
A less than humble Xander Scott misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
