Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tetsuo Shima (ranked 1456 p4p, 1810 weight class) and Edgar Frankies (ranked 197 p4p, 242 weight class). Shima comes to the cage accompanied by The HU - Yuve Yuve Yu. Frankies has chosen Steady as she goes as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tetsuo Shima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edgar Frankies!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shima works the jab nicely.
Frankies walks into a left hand.
Frankies fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shima on the side of the head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Shima blocks a jab.
Frankies is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Frankies takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Frankies gets a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shima lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Shima.

Frankies manages to pull guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frankies has control of Shima's left arm, preventing Shima from doing any damage.
Frankies wants to stand and escape but Shima is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shima not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Frankies is controlling Shima's posture.
Frankies looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Shima stands and steps away. Frankies gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Shima gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Frankies drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Frankies has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shima is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Shima misses with a hook to the ribs.

Frankies wants a takedown.
Tetsuo Shima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgar Frankies.
Shima is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Frankies jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shima walks away with a smile on his face. Frankies gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Frankies misses with a looping left.
We've been informed that Frankies has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Frankies dives in and grabs Shima's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shima pushes down on Frankies's head and hops out.
We've been told by Shima's head coaches at Sparks gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Frankies fails with the takedown
and Shima connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Frankies throws an off balance right hand
and Shima counters with a right hand to the body.
Shima fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Frankies throws a poor cross that misses
and Shima counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shima seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Tetsuo Shima.
Frankies tries to clinch
and Shima counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Shima misses with a body shot.
Shima tries to close the distance and clinch up but Frankies swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shima seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

and Frankies takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Shima lands a jab to the head.
Shima comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shima scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Frankies closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Shima fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shima smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Nice takedown defense from Shima. No joy for Frankies on that attempt.

Frankies takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Frankies misses with a hook
and Shima counters with a straight right hand.
Shima lands a two punch combo.
Frankies rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Shima counter with a right hand.
Shima tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Frankies paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A punch combination from Shima misses.
Shima connects with a looping right hand.
Shima scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Frankies doesn't seem bothered though.
Shima lands with a cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shima moves into the clinch.
Frankies tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shima smiles and moves away.

Frankies drives through and clinches with Shima against the cage.

Frankies turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Frankies manages to end up in side control.

Shima bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Shima stuffs the takedown.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tetsuo Shima dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Shima fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Shima rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Frankies moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Frankies changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Shima tries to work over Frankies's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Shima takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Shima gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Shima closes the distance and pushes Frankies back into the cage.
Frankies tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Frankies goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shima prevents it.

The referee calls for Shima to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tetsuo Shima showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shima has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
