Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Blaydes (ranked 1954 p4p, 2283 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 257 p4p, 291 weight class). Blaydes comes to the cage accompanied by Black Sunshine - White Zombie. Oscar Blaydes could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Juan Carlos's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Blaydes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlos is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Carlos throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carlos shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Blaydes swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Blaydes looks to land a left hand but Carlos moved out of range nicely.
Blaydes gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Blaydes enables Carlos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Blaydes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Blaydes wants to sweep but no luck.
Carlos wants to control from the top but Blaydes keeps moving.
Carlos wants to pass the guard but Blaydes is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlos postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Blaydes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carlos stalling away here and it's allowed Blaydes to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Carlos wants to control from the top but Blaydes keeps moving.

Carlos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Blaydes as he jumps to the side.
Carlos checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Blaydes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Carlos.

Blaydes just misses with a punch to the body.
Blaydes gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Carlos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blaydes defends it nicely.

Carlos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Blaydes did well to prevent Carlos getting side control.

Carlos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blaydes keeps working.
Carlos is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Carlos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Blaydes ducks under a wild hook from Carlos.
Blaydes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carlos moves away.
Carlos avoids the head kick by Blaydes.
Carlos fails with the takedown.
Carlos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Carlos clobbers Blaydes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Blaydes makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Blaydes throws a lazy right hand but Carlos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Carlos was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Carlos connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Blaydes's hands.
Carlos jabs Blaydes right on the nose. Blaydes blinks but takes it well.
Blaydes looks to score with a jab to the body but Carlos is just out of range.
It seemed like Carlos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Carlos jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Blaydes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Carlos sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Blaydes throws the kick towards the body but Carlos avoids it.
Carlos looks like he wants to counter punch here.

I would just about give that final round to Juan Carlos.
Well Carlos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
