Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Dier (ranked 1873 p4p, 3291 weight class) and William OConnor (ranked 256 p4p, 419 weight class). Eric Dier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Dier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, William OConnor!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dier tries a head kick but it misses.
A countering left hand to the body from OConnor misses.
OConnor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but OConnor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
OConnor lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Dier throws a body shot but no joy.
Dier misses with a two punch combination.
OConnor wants to counter with a clinch but Dier pushes him away.
Dier misses with a jab to the body
and OConnor counters with a series of strikes. Dier will be more careful next time no doubt.
Dier ducks down and throws a hook to the body but OConnor moves away.
OConnor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dier is looking to counter the offense by OConnor and move into the clinch.
OConnor moves forwards but Dier connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Dier misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from OConnor.
OConnor is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Dier swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by OConnor.
A solid leg kick lands there for Dier.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dier misses with a straight right.

Dier walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. OConnor checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
OConnor wants to counter the offense by Dier and move into the clinch position.
OConnor avoids the head kick by Dier.
A slapping leg kick lands for Dier.
A big left from Dier misses.
A nice side step and OConnor releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Dier misses with a wild body shot.
OConnor throws a counter combo.
Dier misses with a hook

and OConnor counters by moving into the clinch.
Dier tries to work over OConnor's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A head punch on the inside from Dier fails to land.
Still in the clinch, Dier scores with a nice short uppercut.
Dier lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt OConnor or not.
OConnor misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dier gets through OConnor's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
OConnor fails to pull the fight into his guard.
OConnor misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dier.
Dier lands a body punch in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dier lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt OConnor or not.
OConnor is trying to drag Dier to the mat but Dier just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
OConnor swings wildly with an uppercut but Dier uses good head movement to avoid it.

Dier breaks the clinch.
Dier throws a hook but OConnor blocks it.
Eric Dier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A low kick lands for Dier.
Dier throws out a powerful jab.
Dier throws a looping overhand right but OConnor ducks down to avoid it.
Dier pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
OConnor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dier throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent OConnor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dier swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and OConnor counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by OConnor.
A nice left hand lands by Dier.
Dier lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
OConnor drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dier pulls his leg out and moves away.
Eric Dier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William OConnor.
Dier looks to throw a body kick

and OConnor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dier won't be happy with that.

OConnor lands a nice forearm strike.
Dier is trying to improve his position.
Dier is not content to let OConnor control the position.
Dier manages to get back to half guard.

Dier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
OConnor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
OConnor is trying to control the action in half guard but Dier is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Dier manages to get to full guard.

OConnor has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dier to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! OConnor is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dier pulls down on the head and he's put OConnor to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Eric Dier!
A very excited looking Eric Dier rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
