Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, li Wang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cal Worthington! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Darius Henderson and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Worthington tries to keep at a distance but Wang has taken the fight into the clinch. Wang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Worthington lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
It looks like li Wang has been cut. Worthington throws a big shot that misses. Wang half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Wang pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Worthington lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Wang lands a jab to Worthington's midsection. Worthington's coach down at St Petersburg MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Worthington's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Wang darts in and clinches Worthington up against the cage. Worthington looking for a takedown. Worthington gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wang.
Worthington jumps guard but Wang stands there with Worthington around his waist. Worthington gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. A cross from Worthington lands. Wang avoids the head kick by Worthington.
Nice straight punches there by Worthington. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Worthington.
Wang is rocked! li Wang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Wang walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Worthington! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
