PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between White Goodman (ranked 1776 p4p, 5386 weight class) and Stian Lygre (ranked 187 p4p, 386 weight class). Lygre has chosen ADHD as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, White Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stian Lygre!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman stuffs the takedown.

Lygre gets caught flat footed, as Goodman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lygre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goodman is controlling him.
Goodman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lygre looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Goodman puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Lygre is trying to maintain the position but Goodman is very close to passing his half guard.
Goodman winds up and cracks Lygre with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman trying to control the action but Lygre is working from the bottom.
Goodman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodman is pressing down on Lygre's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lygre is holding on for now.
Goodman performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Lygre is staying active underneath Goodman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lygre has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goodman is working away from the top position though.

Goodman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lygre defends it well.
Goodman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lygre is refusing to be controlled, as Goodman sits in half guard.
Lygre keeping hold of Goodman's head, controlling as best he can.
Goodman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Goodman is looking to take a break and control but Lygre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Goodman is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lygre won't allow Goodman to pass to mount.
Lygre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Goodman with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Goodman passes the guard and advances to mount!

Goodman is working for a guillotine from mount but Lygre frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goodman landing shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goodman lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Goodman looking to finish Lygre with some ground and pound. This is bad for Lygre!

Goodman is working for a guillotine from mount but Lygre frees his head quite easily.
Goodman lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lygre tries to lock up and control but Goodman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Goodman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Goodman trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

White Goodman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lygre gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Goodman to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Goodman passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Goodman working the ground and pound from side control.
Goodman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lygre takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Goodman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lygre knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lygre wants to get back to his feet.
Lygre trying his best to control but Goodman has mounted him.
Lygre in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Goodman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lygre is rocked!

Goodman looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Lygre is still in real trouble! Can Goodman finish him?
Goodman drops a big elbow. That's hurt Lygre! More shots from Goodman and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). White Goodman!
Post fight, an emotional White Goodman said 'Losing is a genetic disorder much like baldness or necrophilia and its only your fault if you don't hate yourself enough to do something about it! Join Globo Gym !!'.
Stian Lygre was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll learn from this and I will be back. '.
