PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Motts (ranked 370 p4p, 946 weight class) and Sonatane Veainu (ranked 13 p4p, 22 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Motts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sonatane Veainu!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Motts throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Motts connects with a good right hand that stumbles Veainu. Veainu circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Motts connects with a right hand. Veainu shakes it off.
Veainu ducks under a wild hook from Motts.
Motts drops Veainu with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Veainu looks back up at him and smiles so Motts waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters circling - Veainu throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Veainu swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Motts makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Motts ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Veainu's jaw. Veainu's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Motts does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gregory Motts!
An out of breath Gregory Motts thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
