Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollinaire Aury (ranked 2919 p4p, 3682 weight class) and Braxton Driscoll (ranked 396 p4p, 466 weight class). Aury comes to the cage accompanied by Party Up. Apollinaire Aury had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Apollinaire Aury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Braxton Driscoll!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Driscoll throws a hook to the side of Aury's head but Aury sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Aury appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Aury takes one to the side of the head.
Driscoll slips a jab from Aury.
Aury scores with a crisp jab that stopped Driscoll in his tracks.

It looks like Braxton Driscoll has been cut.
Aury gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Driscoll.
Driscoll pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Aury back to the cage. Driscoll follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Driscoll uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Aury decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Aury looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Aury wants to work for an arm triangle but Driscoll is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Driscoll tries to kick Aury off but Aury keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Aury is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Aury stops Driscoll from getting back to his feet.

Aury is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Driscoll is just riding it out for now. Aury eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aury is trying to control the action in half guard but Driscoll is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aury is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Driscoll doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aury.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Aury is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Driscoll sees it coming and defends easily.

Driscoll is trying to stand back up but Aury is controlling him
Driscoll is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Aury walks into a stiff left hand from Driscoll.
Driscoll darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Driscoll gets caught napping as Aury dives in and scores a takedown. Driscoll manages to retain guard.

Driscoll is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Aury presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Aury is trying to drag Driscoll to the mat but Driscoll just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Driscoll looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Aury lands with a light punch inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Aury has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Driscoll is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Apollinaire Aury. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Driscoll wants to break free but Aury has control.

Aury has hold of one of Driscoll's legs. Driscoll is fighting the takedown attempt but Aury gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Aury tries to free his leg and advance position but Driscoll is retaining full guard.
Driscoll wants to stand but Aury is controlling the position.

Aury has gone for a leg lock! Driscoll slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aury's guard.


Aury has his foot on Driscoll's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Driscoll works his way back into a safe position though.
Driscoll wants to stand but Aury has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Braxton Driscoll dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Aury walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Aury lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Driscoll circles away quickly and effectively.
Aury shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Driscoll sprawls well. Driscoll wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aury gets slowly back to his feet.
Apollinaire Aury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Aury.
Driscoll lands a nice shot that snaps Aury's head back.
Aury on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

It looks like Apollinaire Aury has been cut.
Donk. Driscoll catches Aury right on the button with a cross.
Driscoll has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aury shoots for a takedown but Driscoll saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nice uppercut lands for Driscoll. That snapped Aury's head back.
Driscoll has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Driscoll cracks Aury with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Aury tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Driscoll pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Aury is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Braxton Driscoll!
