Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ali Dixon (ranked 1612 p4p, 2327 weight class) and Roelof Gerritzen (ranked 226 p4p, 314 weight class). The key to victory for Ali Dixon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roelof Gerritzen!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gerritzen. Gerritzen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Gerritzen misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Dixon to counter with a crisp jab.

Gerritzen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dixon did well to prevent Gerritzen getting side control.
Gerritzen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dixon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gerritzen is one step ahead there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dixon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gerritzen's head backwards.

Gerritzen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dixon defends it well.

Dixon throws a shot from downtown. Gerritzen moves away and avoids it.
Dixon connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The fighters circling - Dixon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gerritzen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We've been told by Dixon's head coaches at Sparks gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Dixon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ali Dixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roelof Gerritzen.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dixon enables Gerritzen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dixon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Dixon has his hands on Gerritzen's head, controlling the position.
Gerritzen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gerritzen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dixon to the mat! Dixon manages to get full guard.

We've been informed that Gerritzen has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Dixon wants to stand and escape but Gerritzen is having none of it.

Gerritzen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gerritzen is pushing down on Dixon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dixon is fighting to maintain full guard but Gerritzen has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dixon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Dixon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gerritzen manages to get himself to full guard.

Dixon throws a strike but Gerritzen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gerritzen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gerritzen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dixon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gerritzen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dixon is looking to stand up but Gerritzen isn't so interested in that idea.

Gerritzen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dixon lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gerritzen backs up against the cage.
A swing and a miss from Dixon.
Gerritzen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Ali Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gerritzen gets a takedown into half guard.

Dixon has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gerritzen is on him like a limpet, forcing Dixon back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gerritzen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gerritzen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dixon to the ground. Gerritzen is now in Dixon's guard.

Let's hope that Gerritzen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

and Dixon counters with a straight right hand.
Dixon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gerritzen takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gerritzen misses with an uppercut
and Dixon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gerritzen connects with a single shot there.

Dixon misses the jab.
Dixon lands with a hook. Gerritzen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Gerritzen is rocked!
Dixon scores with a body shot.
Gerritzen is still on wobbly legs! Can Dixon finish him?
Dixon fakes the body blow, causing Gerritzen to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Gerritzen goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
