PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Getz Jiggy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Big Punisher- Beware kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Forrest Griffin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Getz Jiggy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jiggy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Griffin is looking to reverse the position.

Jiggy decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jiggy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Griffin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Jiggy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jiggy lands in his opponent's guard.
Jiggy won't allow Griffin to sweep him here.
Griffin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jiggy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Griffin.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jiggy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jiggy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griffin is working away from the top position though.
Jiggy works his way to full guard. Good work.
Jiggy is pulling down on Griffin's head. It's preventing any offense from Griffin, at least for the moment.

Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Griffin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jiggy is trying to control the position but Griffin postures up.
Jiggy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Griffin dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jiggy. That did some damage!

Jiggy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Griffin to the mat! Griffin manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jiggy is breathing heavily.
Griffin wants to improve his position but instead Jiggy has moved into half guard.
Jiggy throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jiggy wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling the position.

Jiggy wants to take a breather but Griffin is having none of it.
Griffin tries to roll over but Jiggy keeps him under control.
Griffin works his way to full guard. Good work.

Griffin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jiggy uses it to pass to side control.

Jiggy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jiggy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
A lull in the action here.
Griffin wants to control but Jiggy postures up.

Jiggy is trying to get an arm triangle but Griffin is defending well.

Jiggy stands up and beckons Griffin to his feet.
Jiggy shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Jiggy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Griffin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jiggy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Griffin won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Griffin is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jiggy trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jiggy lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Getz Jiggy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Griffin misses with a wild combination.
Jiggy takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Getz Jiggy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Jiggy counters by clinching up.
Jiggy can't get the takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Jiggy.
Jiggy blocks an uppercut.
Jiggy tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Griffin avoids it.
Jiggy just leaning against Griffin, taking a breather.

Jiggy pulls guard effortlessly.
Jiggy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Griffin is looking for a sweep. Jiggy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Griffin is looking to improve his position.

Griffin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jiggy wants to take a breather but Griffin is having none of it.
Jiggy moves into full mount! Griffin won't be happy about that!

Jiggy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jiggy lands a big shot there that rocks Griffin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Griffin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Jiggy stands up from mount. Strange move.
Griffin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jiggy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Griffin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jiggy pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jiggy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Griffin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jiggy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Getz Jiggy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jiggy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Griffin is in a horrible position here. Jiggy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Jiggy controlling the pace for now.
Griffin can't escape the position.
Jiggy controlling his opponent.
Griffin is looking to improve his position but Jiggy isn't that keen on the idea.

Jiggy is going olschool here, as he tries to force Griffin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Griffin shrugs it off.

Getz Jiggy dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Jiggy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jiggy showed some decent athleticism there.
Griffin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jiggy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jiggy's back!
Jiggy biding his time here by controlling the hands, looking to escape.

Jiggy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Griffin pulls his head out easily.
Griffin drops an elbow to the side of Jiggy's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses.

and Jiggy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Jiggy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Griffin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jiggy escapes and throws Griffin's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Jiggy blocks the strikes from Griffin.

Jiggy cracks Griffin with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Griffin regains half guard.
Griffin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jiggy is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Griffin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Griffin is looking to improve his position.
Jiggy works his way into full mount!
Jiggy looking to control and managing it successfully.

Griffin tries to improve his position but Jiggy has taken his back! Jiggy has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Griffin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Jiggy pushes Griffin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Getz Jiggy!
