Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Watson Delafontaine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Percival Sherington! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sherington feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Delafontaines jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Delafontaine scores with a shot to the body.
Sherington swings for the body but Delafontaine moves out of range.
Sherington misses with a body shot.
Delafontaine tries to counter with a takedown but Sherington is quick to defend against it. Delafontaine misses with a wild combination.
Delafontaine blocks a jab. Delafontaine throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sherington closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Delafontaine to the mat! Delafontaine manages to get full guard. Sherington is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Sherington trying to control but Delafontaine is working from the bottom. Sherington passes Delafontaine's left leg - he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sherington trying to mount his opponent but Delafontaine defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delafontaine trying to control but Sherington postures up.
Sherington is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Sherington is trying to work for a kimura but Delafontaine is defending well.
Delafontaine is trying to maintain the position but Sherington is very close to passing his half guard. Sherington is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Delafontaine is just riding it out for now. Sherington eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Delafontaine tries to get to full guard but Sherington has control of the leg. Delafontaine punching from the bottom.
Sherington wants to pass the guard but Delafontaine is defending well. Delafontaine is trying to control but Sherington passes into side control!
Delafontaine on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Delafontaine tries to get out of the position. Sherington is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Delafontaine looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sherington gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Delafontaine is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sherington lets go of the hold and Delafontaine can pop his arm back in it's socket.
