This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Steve The Samurai! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Dagestanskiy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The Samurai darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Dagestanskiy (0) vs (2) The Samurai We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dagestanskiy wants to control but The Samurai is keeping busy and won't allow it. The Samurai content to control rather than advance. Dagestanskiy tries to roll over but The Samurai keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Samurai looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Dagestanskiy trying to hold on to The Samurai's head to control him but The Samurai postures up.
Dagestanskiy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The Samurai is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Samurai wants to pass the guard but Dagestanskiy is defending well. The Samurai is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dagestanskiy defends it well. Dagestanskiy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of The Samurai's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take The Samurai's back! The Samurai won't enjoy being in this position. Dagestanskiy looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - The Samurai is tapping - it's over boys! Dagestanskiy picks up the submission victory!
