Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dynamo MacKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Newell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacKenzie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Shwayze - High Together. Dynamo MacKenzie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Matthew Newell's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dynamo MacKenzie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Newell! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but MacKenzie moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Newell misses with a double jab.
MacKenzie tries for a takedown but Newell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. The fight stays on the outside here - MacKenzie looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Newell avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Newell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

MacKenzie throws a low kick, looking for Newell's leg but Newell calmly moves out of range. MacKenzie motions for Newell to come forward. MacKenzie throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. MacKenzie feints and then cracks Newell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Newell down. MacKenzie misses with a low kick.
Newell throws a leg kick that misses. Newell gets a clinch. MacKenzie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Nice elbow from Newell.
It looks like Dynamo MacKenzie has been cut. Newell pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacKenzie wants to get back to striking at distance but Newell won't allow it.

Newell has dropped down and is working for a takedown. MacKenzie is trying to keep an underhook but Newell manages to get the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newell sitting and controlling from the half guard. MacKenzie trying to hold on to Newell's head to control him but Newell postures up.
Newell takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. MacKenzie flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round. MacKenzie tries to get to full guard but Newell has control of the leg. MacKenzie is working hard here to advance position. Well, if Newell is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Newell stands up from half guard. MacKenzie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Newell defends it nicely. Newell misses with a double jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Newell thows a leg kick but MacKenzie checks it and MacKenzie counters with a slapping leg kick. MacKenzie displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Newell throws a leg kick which misses MacKenzie's front leg but catches the back leg as MacKenzie tries to avoid it. MacKenzie clinches but Newell breaks the clinch and Newell counters with a two punch combo. A low kick from MacKenzie is predictable there and Newell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for MacKenzie! MacKenzie wants to hold on but Newell pushes him away. MacKenzie tries to reverse the position but Newell maintains control. Newell trying to control but he's not successful this time. MacKenzie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Newell wants to control the pace but MacKenzie is squirming around nicely. MacKenzie is wriggling around trying to escape.
Newell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… MacKenzie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by MacKenzie and Newell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
MacKenzie can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. MacKenzie dodges the ground and pound from Newell. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. MacKenzie is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Newell has just dragged him back down to the mat. MacKenzie is not content to let Newell control the position. MacKenzie is looking for a sweep. MacKenzie is trying to escape the position but Newell is controlling the position. MacKenzie struggling a bit here. Newell moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. MacKenzie clinches up against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Newell holding his opponent close, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Newell dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dynamo MacKenzie's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Newell scores with a takedown into MacKenzie's guard. MacKenzie looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Newell sitting in guard here, content to control. Newell trying to control but MacKenzie is working from the bottom. Newell controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. MacKenzie throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Newell preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newell slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. MacKenzie can't do much from the bottom here. MacKenzie tries to bench press Newell off him but Newell keeps the position. Newell wants to lay and pray for a moment but MacKenzie keeps working. MacKenzie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Newell is looking to take a break and control but MacKenzie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Newell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. MacKenzie pushes Newell off looking to stand but Newell dives back in and keeps control.
MacKenzie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Newell is working away from the top position though. MacKenzie wants to improve his position but Newell is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. MacKenzie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Newell content to control rather than advance. MacKenzie wants to control but Newell is keeping busy.

Newell seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and MacKenzie has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. MacKenzie in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Newell is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newell dodges the ground and pound from MacKenzie. The strikes coming from MacKenzie are missing the target in this wave of attacks. MacKenzie working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. MacKenzie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Newell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Newell stuck in half guard on the bottom here. MacKenzie misses with an attempted head punch from side control. MacKenzie in the domination position with Newell hanging on. MacKenzie creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Newell sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. MacKenzie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Newell keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Newell throws a nice looking combination but MacKenzie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Newell, right into the meat.

and Newell counters with a straight right hand. MacKenzie misses with a takedown attempt and Newell counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Newell wants to control from the top but MacKenzie keeps moving. MacKenzie controls Newell momentarily but Newell frees himself. MacKenzie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Newell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Newell gets in close and instigates a clinch. Newell has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. MacKenzie avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. MacKenzie tries to pull guard but Newell holds him up against the cage and eventually MacKenzie drops back down to his feet.

Newell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Newell trying to control but MacKenzie is working from the bottom. MacKenzie pulls Newell in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Newell lands a two punch combo.
Dynamo MacKenzie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. MacKenzie throws a leg kick and Newell counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. MacKenzie has his takedown stuffed and Newell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in MacKenzie's guard now. Newell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Newell looking to pass the guard. Newell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Newell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. MacKenzie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

MacKenzie is fighting to maintain full guard but Newell has managed to sneak the leg through. Newell trying to control the action but MacKenzie is working from the bottom. MacKenzie trying to hold on to Newell's head to control him but Newell postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. MacKenzie tries a low kick but Newell avoids it. Newell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but MacKenzie circles away quickly and effectively. MacKenzie throws a sloppy head kick and Newell counters with a one-two to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newell darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Newell trying to mount his opponent but MacKenzie defends it. Matthew Newell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. MacKenzie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. MacKenzie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Newell! MacKenzie lands a big shot there that rocks Newell but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Newell holds of for dear life. Newell wants to hold on but MacKenzie pushes him away. MacKenzie looking to finish Newell with some ground and pound. This is bad for Newell!
And that's the end of the fight! Matthew Newell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Newell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
