Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Beardsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drew Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes throws a poor cross that misses
and Beardsley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Decent striking displayed by Barnes there.
Beardsley ducks under a wild hook from Barnes.
Barnes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Barnes looks to throw the jab but Beardsley is out of range.
Beardsley throwing a counter right hand but Barnes manages to avoid it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Beardsley.
Beardsley moves away from the strike by Barnes.
Beardsley half committed to a counter leg kick.
Barnes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
The fighters circle momentarily. Beardsley darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Drew Barnes has been cut.
Beardsley throws a low kick but it's checked well by Barnes.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Beardsley. Barnes shrugs it off though.

and Barnes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beardsley is trying to control the position but Barnes postures up.
Barnes is in close to Beardsley's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Barnes stands up over Beardsley, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Beardsley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barnes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Barnes won't allow Beardsley to sweep him here.

Barnes distracts Beardsley with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Beardsley seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

My spies in Mentor Gym inform me that Barnes has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Beardsley has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Barnes is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Beardsley.
Beardsley is looking to reverse the position.
Barnes is chipping away with strikes.
Beardsley takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Barnes lands a nice forearm strike.
Beardsley regains half guard.
Barnes drops an elbow to the side of Beardsley's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barnes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beardsley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beardsley wants to control but Barnes is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Barnes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Barnes is nestled in close to Beardsley, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Barnes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Beardsley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Barnes scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
