Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rey Mackaroy (ranked 6061 p4p, 4628 weight class) and Kyle Zeppelin (ranked 575 p4p, 518 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rey Mackaroy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Zeppelin!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackaroy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mackaroy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Zeppelin counters by moving into the clinch.
Zeppelin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mackaroy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mackaroy wants to break the clinch but can't.

Zeppelin pulls Mackaroy into guard.
Mackaroy wants to stand but Zeppelin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mackaroy wants to get up but he can't break Zeppelin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Zeppelin has taken the fight to the clinch.

Zeppelin gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mackaroy regains guard.
Mackaroy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Zeppelin is now in half guard.
Mackaroy is trying to get back to full guard.
Mackaroy is positioning himself well to prevent Zeppelin advancing to mount.

Mackaroy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zeppelin pulls his head out easily.

Mackaroy kicks Zeppelin off and gets back to his feet.
Mackaroy looks for the body kick but Zeppelin saw that one coming.
Zeppelin slips a jab and a cross from Mackaroy.
Mackaroy is breathing heavily.
Zeppelin avoids the head kick by Mackaroy.
Zeppelin throws a head kick but Mackaroy moves out of range.
Danga de danga de dang - Mackaroy scores with a four punch combination!

It looks like Kyle Zeppelin has been cut.
Mackaroy throws a head kick but Zeppelin moves out of range.
Mackaroy lands with a kick to the temple. Zeppelin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Zeppelin closes the distance and pushes Mackaroy back into the cage.
Zeppelin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mackaroy's efforts to push away.
Mackaroy tries to break free but Zeppelin pushes him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Zeppelin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mackaroy is trying to keep an underhook but Zeppelin manages to get the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mackaroy looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Mackaroy is trying to control but can't.

Zeppelin is working for a submission of some sort.
Zeppelin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mackaroy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Rey Mackaroy will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Zeppelin clinches with his opponent.
Mackaroy has Zeppelin pressed against the cage, preventing Zeppelin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Zeppelin is looking to break free of the clinch but Mackaroy has double underhooks.
Zeppelin tries to score a body lock takedown but Mackaroy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Zeppelin is trying to trip Mackaroy. He has hold of a leg but Mackaroy is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Zeppelin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Mackaroy has his foot on Zeppelin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zeppelin works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mackaroy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zeppelin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zeppelin gets to his feet. Mackaroy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Horrible takedown attempt by Zeppelin or perhaps it was just good defense by Mackaroy, which made it look bad.
Zeppelin shoots in looking for a takedown but Mackaroy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zeppelin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rey Mackaroy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Zeppelin.

Rey Mackaroy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick from Mackaroy lands but Zeppelin takes it in his stride.

Mackaroy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zeppelin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mackaroy tries to avoid it but Zeppelin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mackaroy to the ground. Mackaroy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mackaroy connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Mackaroy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Zeppelin.

Zeppelin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mackaroy defends it well.

Zeppelin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mackaroy sprawls well. Mackaroy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Zeppelin gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Mackaroy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
A head kick from Mackaroy lands but Zeppelin takes it in his stride.

Mackaroy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

As Mackaroy backs off Zeppelin throws a huge counter combo but Mackaroy manages to avoid it all.
Zeppelin is looking to land body kicks.
Zeppelin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mackaroy defends it nicely.
Mackaroy shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Zeppelin eats them both and turns towards Mackaroy to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

The fighters circle momentarily. Mackaroy darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Zeppelin shoots in for a double leg but Mackaroy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mackaroy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Zeppelin has closed the distance and engaged Mackaroy in a clinch.
Mackaroy wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Zeppelin has him pressed against the cage.
Mackaroy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Zeppelin wants a takedown but no success here.

Mackaroy shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Zeppelin eats them both and turns towards Mackaroy to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Zeppelin is trying to drag Mackaroy to the mat but Mackaroy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mackaroy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Zeppelin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mackaroy kicks off Zeppelin and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zeppelin is looking to clinch but Mackaroy is avoiding it.
Mackaroy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zeppelin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Zeppelin wants to counter the offense by Mackaroy and move into the clinch position.
Mackaroy takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Zeppelin is looking to clinch.
Kyle Zeppelin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rey Mackaroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rey Mackaroy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mackaroy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
