PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cole Lake (ranked 3190 p4p, 3410 weight class) and Benjamin Shark (ranked 305 p4p, 318 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Cole Lake has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Cole Lake seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cole Lake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benjamin Shark!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake wants to slow Shark down by chopping away at his legs.
Lake is looking to clinch.
Shark fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lake changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shark tries to avoid it but Lake manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shark to the ground. Shark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Benjamin Shark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lake tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shark paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Danga de danga de dang - Shark scores with a four punch combination!
Lake definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Shark throws a right hand that Lake ducks under and follows up with a left that Lake also avoids with ease.
Lake shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shark defends it nicely.
Lake misses with a low kick.
Lake fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cole Lake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shark lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lake takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lake lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shark has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shark and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Lake sets himself, and Shark steps forward looking for the clinch! Lake avoids it this time.
A combination from Shark does no damage.
Lake is looking for a counter combo.
Lake shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shark but Shark pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lake is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shark sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Shark slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lake dodges the punch combination from Shark.
Lake misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lake fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Shark has closed the distance and engaged Lake in a clinch.

Shark's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd cheers as Shark lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lake doesn't seem phased though.
Benjamin Shark is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shark connects with a single shot there.
Danga de danga de dang - Shark scores with a four punch combination!

Lake is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shark cracks Lake with a hook to the temple - Lake is on wobbly legs here! Shark swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Lake falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Shark wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Benjamin Shark!
After the fight, Benjamin Shark was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
