Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wes Loose (ranked 4178 p4p, 4847 weight class) and Meguru Takayanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wes Loose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Meguru Takayanagi!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayanagi throws a right hand that misses
and Loose counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Loose shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takayanagi sprawls well. Takayanagi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Loose gets slowly back to his feet.
Loose throws a hook but Takayanagi avoids it easily.
A head kick misses from Takayanagi.
Loose fails to land with a series of punches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Takayanagi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Takayanagi looks to land a combination but Loose avoids it well.
A swing and a miss from Loose.

Loose closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Loose lands in his opponent's guard.
Loose works over Takayanagi with some ground and pound from guard.

Loose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takayanagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Loose loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Loose is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

No joy there for Takayanagi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Loose fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Loose is in close to Takayanagi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Loose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takayanagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Loose throws a big right hand that misses.

Loose passes into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Loose scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Loose throwing shots but Takayanagi is blocking nicely.

Loose not doing much here.
Loose seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Loose passes the guard and advances to mount!
Loose controlling the pace for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wes Loose dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Meguru Takayanagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Loose dodges the punch combination from Takayanagi.
A looping hook to the body misses from Loose. Takayanagi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Loose connects with a body shot.

Loose shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Takayanagi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Loose in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Loose scores with a couple of short elbows.
Loose remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Loose is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takayanagi can do to turn this around?

Loose looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Takayanagi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wes Loose overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Loose wants to pass to mount but Takayanagi is defending the position.
Loose drops an elbow to the side of Takayanagi's head.
Loose not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Well, if Loose is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Loose takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Loose lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Takayanagi hang on?
Loose fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Loose is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Takayanagi can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Loose tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Takayanagi is bucking up trying to escape but Loose cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Loose breaks from Takayanagi's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Loose punishing his opponent with strikes.

Takayanagi is still in real trouble! Can Loose finish him?
A nice elbow there by Loose.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

BOOM! Loose connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Loose loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Takayanagi scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Loose land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Loose stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wes Loose!
