Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Buut shoots in looking for a takedown but Buktot manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Buut's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Buut tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buktot swivels and escapes. Buut shoots in for a takedown but Buktot shows good takedown defense. Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut. Buktot darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buut blocking the ground and pound attempt from Buktot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buktot with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Buut is controlling Buktot's trapped leg to prevent Buktot from advancing to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buktot looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Buktot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Buut for as long as he can get away with. Buut holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Buut is trying to control but can't.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Nice takedown defense from Buktot. No joy for Buut on that attempt. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Buut. Buktot tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buut swivels and escapes. Buut dives in and grabs Buktot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes down on Buut's head and hops out. Buktot is looking to counter with a body kick. Buut fails to land the takedown. Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buktot scores with a takedown into Buut's guard. Buktot is fighting to break Buut's control of his arms but Buut is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buktot slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Buut wants to control but Buktot passes easily into half guard.
Buut keeping hold of Buktot's head, controlling as best he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Buut trying to hold on to Buktot's head to control him but Buktot postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dawindi Buktot dominated that round. That's time! Buktot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Buktot shoots and misses and Buut counters with a left to the body. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Buktot is defended easily by Buut. Buut thinks about the counter body kick. Buktot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Buut can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Buut is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Buktot sitting and controlling from the half guard. Buut is doing well to control the position and prevent Buktot from advancing to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buut is trying to maintain the position but Buktot is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Buktot drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Buktot stays in close to Buut's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buut has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Buktot controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Buktot trying to control the position from guard on top but Buut is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dawindi Buktot dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! Buut defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Buktot. Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Buut, before circling back to the center of the mat. Buktot feinted there with a counter leg kick. Buut shoots in and drives through. Buktot sprawls well. Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Buut's half guard. Buut trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buktot controlling the action here. Buktot continues to stall. Buut wants to control but Buktot is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Buktot controlling the action here. Buut is trying is best to control the position here. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Buktot content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Buut stuffs the takedown attempt from Buktot. Buktot gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buut closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Buktot is positioning himself well to prevent Buut advancing to mount. Buut takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buktot is doing well to control the position and prevent Buut from advancing to side control. Buut seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Buktot trying to control here.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dawindi Buktot. Well Buktot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
