PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Je Ha Kim (ranked 1972 p4p, 1978 weight class) and Jinjing Yan (ranked 267 p4p, 269 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Je Ha Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jinjing Yan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yan tests Kim's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kim throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Yan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Yan misses with a hook. Kim ducked under it nicely.
A telegraphed right hand from Yan misses the target.
Yan with a nice cross.
Yan punishes Kim's body with a nice straight punch.
Yan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Kim is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Yan.
Yan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Kim throws a body shot but no joy.
Kim takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kim displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yan throws out the jab.
An attempted straight right counter from Kim misses the target.
Kim tries to move into range but Yan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Yan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kim on the side of the head.
Yan throws a hook but Kim avoids it easily.

We've been told by Kim's head coaches at Takeda Clan Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Yan moves away from the strike by Kim.
Yan works Kim's body with a nice hook.
Yan might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Yan is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Kim had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yan clobbers Kim with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kim misses with a two punch combination.
Yan lands with a hook. Kim tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Yan moves away from the strike by Kim.
Kim throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Yan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Yan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kim doesn't seem bothered though.

Kim uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Yan has time to react.
Kim throws a lazy right hand but Yan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kim loads up on a big right hand but Yan slips the punch.
Yan appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Kim throws a jab but it's blocked by Yan.
Kim throws a hook to the side of Yan's head but Yan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Yan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kim connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Yan momentarily.
Yan ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Yan jabs at Kim's body.
Yan lands a right hook to the body.
Kim takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Yan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kim. Kim circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Yan moves out of range of the strikes.
Kim looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Kim takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Yan lands a nice looking body shot.

Kim throws the left hand but Yan avoids the punch easily.
Yan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Yan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kim misses with a series of wild punches.

Yan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kim misses with a straight right.
Kim throws a shot from downtown. Yan moves away and avoids it.

Yan lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Yan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kim looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Yan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A lazy left from Yan finds it's target.
Yan lands with a cross.

Kim is rocked!
Yan lands with a hook. Kim tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Oh Kim is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kim fails to land with a series of punches.
Yan with a hook.
Yan drops Kim with a big left hand! Kim is injured, injured bad! Yan jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jinjing Yan!
Jinjing Yan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
