This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 7 losses; Alfredo Linguini! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Don Lime! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lime gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Linguini to score an easy takedown into full guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Linguini (2) vs (0) Lime Lime is trying to hold Linguini in close to prevent damage but Linguini has managed to pass into half guard.
Linguini is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lime defends it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lime manages to get to full guard.
Linguini is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lime is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lime has escaped and now he's on top! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Linguini (2) vs (2) Lime We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Linguini has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lime can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lime wants to control from the top but Linguini keeps moving. Linguini is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from Linguini's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Linguini is looking for a triangle but Lime pushes his legs off easily.
Linguini keeping moving, preventing Lime from controlling successfully. Lime is stalling in the full guard. Lime wants to pass the guard but Linguini is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Linguini isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lime stacks Linguini on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lime! Score +3 for passing guard: Linguini (2) vs (5) Lime The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Linguini is trying to improve his position. Linguini can't do much from the bottom here. Lime wants to lay and pray for a moment but Linguini keeps working. Linguini on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Linguini tries to get out of the position. Lime thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Linguini knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lime on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Linguini manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Linguini looking for submissions off his back. Linguini is refusing to be controlled, as Lime sits in half guard. Linguini has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Lime escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Lime! Score +3 for passing guard: Linguini (2) vs (8) Lime Lime works to advance to full mount. Linguini defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Score +2 for reaching mount: Linguini (2) vs (10) Lime Linguini tries to improve his position but instead Lime has taken his back! Score +3 for taking back: Linguini (2) vs (13) Lime Linguini trying to control the position but Lime manages to sink in the hooks. I really don't envy Linguini right now.
Lime gets his hands free as Linguini looks to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lime sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Linguini taps out!
