The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ops manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Simpson gets caught napping as Ops dives in and scores a takedown. Simpson manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ops sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Simpson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ops scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ops is working Simpson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

It looks like Homer Simpson has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ops passes Simpson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ops scoring with strikes to the body and head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ops lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Simpson! More strikes land and this one is all over! Ops jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

A determined Denk Ops didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
