Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Cruz (ranked 353 p4p, 584 weight class) and Krisko Kurtev (ranked 51 p4p, 83 weight class). Krisko Kurtev is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kurtev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kurtev tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Kurtev misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kurtev looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cruz moves into full mount! Kurtev won't be happy about that! BOOM! Cruz connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Cruz wants to take a breather but Kurtev is having none of it. Kurtev tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Cruz stalling away here and it's allowed Kurtev to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Kurtev wants to sweep here but Cruz controlling him for the moment.

Cruz stands and throws Kurtev's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kurtev regains half guard. Cruz is working for a kimura but Kurtev is defending it quite comfortably.
Kurtev tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Kurtev manages to escape and get back to his feet! Kurtev gets caught flat footed, as Cruz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cruz tries to free his leg and advance position but Kurtev is retaining full guard. Kurtev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruz defends it easily. Cruz pushes down on Kurtev's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kurtev is trying to get back to full guard. Cruz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Cruz seems to be working for a kimura but Kurtev defends the submission attempt. Kurtev tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Cruz is trying to control. Kurtev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Cruz trying to mount his opponent but Kurtev defends it. Kurtev misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Cruz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Kurtev wants to improve his position but Cruz is controlling well.

Kurtev lands with a few short shots to the body. Cruz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kurtev is not content to let Cruz control the position. Cruz blocks the strikes from Kurtev.
Cruz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kurtev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Cruz is looking to advance position but Kurtev won't allow it. Cruz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kurtev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cruz. Kurtev won't allow Cruz to pass to mount. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Cruz dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kurtev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Kurtev working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Cruz is trying to get back to half guard. Cruz gets back to half guard. Ricardo Cruz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kurtev is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Cruz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kurtev lands with some strikes. Cruz is looking to improve his position but Kurtev isn't that keen on the idea. Cruz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kurtev can do to turn this around? Cruz is working hard here to advance position. Cruz regains half guard. Kurtev missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kurtev scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Cruz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cruz. Cruz is trying to control the position but Kurtev postures up. Kurtev landing some decent shots from guard.
