Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Liddel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry tries to clinch up.
Henry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liddel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Liddel keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Henry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Henry fails with an attempt to clinch.
Henry doesn't manage to clinch there - Liddel circles away.
Liddel circles away from the clinch attempt.

Liddel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Henry paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Liddel moves into the clinch.
Henry lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Henry with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Liddel lands a body punch.
Henry scores with a shot to the side of Liddel's head.

Liddel lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Liddel wants to work for an arm triangle but Henry is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Liddel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Henry is trying to stand up here but Liddel is controlling him well.
Liddel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Liddel drops back looking for a leg! Henry is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Henry manages to kick Liddel off! Liddel jumps back into Henry's guard.
Liddel is breathing heavily.
Liddel with a flurry of punches that miss.
Henry throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Henry wants to clinch but Liddel slips to the side

and Liddel moves into the clinch.
A knee to the head by Henry.
Liddel can't find room to land a body shot as Henry controls the action.
Henry scores with a knee to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Henry creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Liddel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Henry walks away with a smile on his face. Liddel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

and Liddel counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Liddel.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Henry lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Henry lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Liddel is rocked!
Henry connects with a knee to the head.
Oh Liddel is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Henry jerks Liddel's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Liddel drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Henry goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Henry because Liddel was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). John Henry!
