Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cayden Abner (ranked 969 p4p, 2410 weight class) and Davido Monto (ranked 147 p4p, 349 weight class). Abner comes to the cage accompanied by Bulls On Parade. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cayden Abner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 1, fighting out of London, Davido Monto!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Monto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Abner did well to prevent Monto getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monto wants to work for an arm triangle but Abner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Monto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Abner sees it coming and defends easily.
Abner wants to get back to his feet.
Monto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Abner tries to kick Monto off but Monto keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Monto is working for a kimura but Abner is defending it quite comfortably.
Abner is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monto thows a huge punch but Abner dodges it nicely.
Abner is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Monto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Abner is just riding it out for now. Monto eventually gives up the hold.
Monto wants to advance to full mount but Abner doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monto throwing strikes from guard but Abner blocks nicely.
Abner looking for a sweep. Not yet Abner, not yet.
Monto throws a big right hand that misses.
Abner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Monto looking to pass the guard.
Abner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Abner's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Monto has his foot on Abner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abner works his way back into a safe position though.
Monto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Monto is looking for a triangle but Abner pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Abner trying to control the position from guard on top but Monto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Monto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Our spies down at at London MMA Club inform us that Monto has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Monto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Abner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Monto is tightening it up a little... Abner has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Abner reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Abner taps out! Nice BJJ there by Monto!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Davido Monto!
