PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Moganesh Jain (ranked 2205 p4p, 1242 weight class) and Yellow Belt Casey (ranked 220 p4p, 131 weight class). Jain comes to the cage accompanied by The Monkey King. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Yellow Belt Casey!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jain tries to clinch but Casey moves away
and Casey counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Casey throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jain drops down looking for a counter takedown but Casey sprawls and moves away.

Jain drives through and clinches with Casey against the cage.

Jain breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jain throws a push kick but Casey slaps the foot to one side.
Casey throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Jain shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Casey manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Jain sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jain wants to stand but Casey has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Casey is on top in guard.

Jain trying to keep a closed guard but Casey is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Casey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Casey has managed to get both his arms back between Jain's legs - danger averted.
Casey stands and throws Jain's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Casey is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jain has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jain is looking to get to half guard.
Casey trying to control but Jain is having none of it.
Jain is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jain wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Casey working for a choke but Jain is defending well.

Jain rolls, trying to escape but Casey keeps control of the position.

Jain defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Casey's arms.

Jain is having to fend off submission attempts from Casey, who is looking to sink in the choke. Casey doesn't have the hooks in though and Jain manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Jain wants to control from the top but Casey keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jain passes into half guard.
It looks like Jain is going to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yellow Belt Casey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Casey!

Jain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Casey can't do much from the bottom here.

Jain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casey keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Casey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Casey managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jain.
Jain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casey keeps working.
Jain tries to get to his feet but Casey is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Jain in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Casey looking to control.
Casey wants to sweep but no luck.
Jain distracts Casey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jain's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jain wanted to stand there but Casey had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jain decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Casey keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Jain is trying to control. Casey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jain content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Moganesh Jain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Casey has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Moganesh Jain will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Jain is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Jain gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Jain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jain showed some decent athleticism there.
Casey trying to hold on to Jain's head to control him but Jain postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jain wants to stand up but Casey has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Jain is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Jain trying to mount his opponent but Casey defends it.
Jain is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Jain is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Casey regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Jain.

Casey looking for a guillotine here but Jain defends easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jain postures up in Casey's guard and throws a big left but Casey blocks it.
Jain controlling from the top position.
Jain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Jain darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Casey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jain is working away from the top position though.
Jain prevents Casey from improving his position.
Jain trying to pass the guard but Casey defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Still in half guard, Jain seems content to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Casey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jain as he jumps to the side.

And that's the end of the fight!
Moganesh Jain showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jain has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
