Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derk Voorheis (ranked 4695 p4p, 5103 weight class) and Juha Ahokas (ranked 468 p4p, 484 weight class). Derk Voorheis could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Juha Ahokas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derk Voorheis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juha Ahokas!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahokas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Voorheis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Voorheis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ahokas as he avoids it easily.
Ahokas feints the counter takedown.
Ahokas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Voorheis's head backwards.
Ahokas moves in looking to clinch but Voorheis pushes him off.
Voorheis drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ahokas sprawls and moves away.
Ahokas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ahokas looks to land a left hand but Voorheis moved out of range nicely.
Voorheis tries to counter with a takedown but Ahokas is quick to defend against it.
Ahokas lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Voorheis scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Ahokas leaves Voorheis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ahokas has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ahokas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Voorheis manages to get himself to full guard.

Voorheis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ahokas as he jumps to the side.

Ahokas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Voorheis throws out the jab.

Voorheis throws a strike but Ahokas manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Voorheis tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
