PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Katelynn Arby (ranked 2037 p4p, 964 weight class) and Gabriel Havran (ranked 254 p4p, 130 weight class). Arby comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet But Psycho. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Katelynn Arby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabriel Havran!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arby shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Havran defends it nicely.
Arby bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Havran ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Arby staying out of range there.
Arby shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Havran as he avoids it easily.
Havran misses with a jab, cross combination.

Arby drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Havran pushes Arby away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Arby gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Arby goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Havran rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Arby's guard! Nice work there by Havran!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Havran wanted to stand there but Arby had control of the position.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Arby wants to sweep here but Havran controlling him for the moment.

Arby looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Arby has a closed guard, preventing Havran from standing up.

Havran stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Havran misses with a jab, cross combination.
Arby fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Katelynn Arby. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Havran tests Arby's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Havran stuffs the takedown attempt from Arby. Arby gets slowly back to his feet.

Havran tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Arby was well out of range. Poor timing from Havran.
Havran lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Arby scores with a takedown into Havran's guard.

Arby is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Havran is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Havran has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Arby has his foot on Havran's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Havran works his way back into a safe position though.
Arby not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Arby looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Havran puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Havran seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Arby tries to get to full guard but Havran has control of the leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Havran wants to stand but Arby has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Arby wants to improve his position but Havran is controlling well.

Havran decides to return to a standing position.

Arby closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Havran quickly recovers to half guard.
Arby is looking to advance position but Havran won't allow it.
Havran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arby. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Arby is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Havran defends it well.

Arby is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Havran wants to get back to his feet.

Arby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Havran doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Arby.

Arby wants to work for an arm triangle but Havran is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Arby is trying to work for a kimura but Havran is defending well.
Arby is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Havran dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Havran tries to bum rush Arby with a series of wild strikes but Arby uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Havran gets caught flat footed, as Arby shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Arby pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Havran is keeping the position for now.

Arby is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Havran manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Arby tries to pull guard but Havran won't allow it.
A short right from Havran on the inside.
Havran tries to work over Arby's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Arby tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Havran smiles and moves away.
Arby moves out of range of the strikes.
Arby's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Havran connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Arby scrambles back to his feet.

It looks like Katelynn Arby has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Arby will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Arby on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Arby shoots for a double leg takedown but Havran sprawls well. He's pushed Arby's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Havran! But no joy.

Arby ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Arby feinted with a counter takedown.
Havran missing with a left hand there. Arby was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Arby fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Havran avoids it really well and circles away.
Havran lands with a straight right. Arby didn't see that one coming.
Arby shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Havran as he jumps to the side.
Havran lands with a nice body punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Arby slips under a jab.
Arby throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Havran's waist but Havran gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Arby off to one side.
Arby looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Arby uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Havran.
Arby half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Arby shoots for a double leg takedown but Havran sprawls well. He's pushed Arby's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Arby misses with a takedown attempt - Havran sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Havran swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Havran has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Arby is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Havran rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Arby moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Arby uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Havran.
Havran scores with a body shot.
Havran lands a slapping body shot.
Gabriel Havran seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Havran looks to land a right hand but Arby moved out of range.

Havran drops Arby with a beautiful combination! Arby stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Havran is looking for the KO!

Arby is rocked!
Havran lands with a shot to the body.
Oh Arby is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Arby is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Havran doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Arby crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Arby's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gabriel Havran!
