This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 49 wins and 32 losses; Harry Hirsch! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 30 wins and 25 losses; Leandro Lo! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Lo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hirsch takes the fight into the clinch. Hirsch is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hirsch has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lo regains guard immediately. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hirsch (2) vs (0) Lo Hirsch has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hirsch looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hirsch for a finish. Hirsch is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lo gets his way!
