This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 0 losses; Tyler Alvarez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 13 losses; Sergei Ulatov! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Alvarez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Alvarez (2) vs (0) Ulatov Alvarez advances to half guard. Alvarez is pressing down on Ulatov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ulatov is holding on for now. Alvarez passes to full mount! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez is pulling down on Ulatov's head to control his posture. Ulatov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alvarez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alvarez has escaped and now he's on top! Alvarez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ulatov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alvarez. Ulatov actively working from the bottom here. Ulatov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ulatov looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Alvarez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ulatov reverses the position - he's now on top in Alvarez's guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Alvarez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alvarez is pulling down on Ulatov's head. It's preventing any offense from Ulatov, at least for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alvarez is on top in guard.

Score +3 for passing guard: Alvarez (12) vs (4) Ulatov Alvarez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ulatov, who protects the arm well. Ulatov manages to get back to half guard.

Ulatov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alvarez pulls his head out easily. Ulatov actively working from the bottom here. Alvarez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ulatov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?!
