Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Thorgard (ranked 3580 p4p, 24620 weight class) and Rashad Denson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bjorn Thorgard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rashad Denson!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorgard defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Denson.
Thorgard changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Thorgard swings widly with a right hand
and Denson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Denson tries to close the distance and clinch but Thorgard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Thorgard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Denson tries to clinch up but Thorgard circles away and keeps his distance.
Denson fails with the takedown.
Denson looks winded!
Denson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thorgard pinned against the cage. Thorgard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bjorn Thorgard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rashad Denson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Denson wants to clinch but Thorgard slips to the side
and Thorgard counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Thorgard.
Thorgard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thorgard postures up and lands a big shot to Denson's brow.

Denson is rocked!
Thorgard postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Denson covers up, he's hurt! Thorgard keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Thorgard and the ref steps in to end the fight! Thorgard can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bjorn Thorgard!
