And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 9 losses; Volodymyr Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Kersikov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Egyptian is fending him off so far but Kersikov persists. Nope, Egyptian circles away and we're back to standing. Kersikov fails with a takedown attempt. Kersikov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Egyptian (0) vs (2) Kersikov Kersikov is trying to control the action in half guard but Egyptian is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kersikov is looking to advance position but Egyptian won't allow it. Egyptian is controlling Kersikov's trapped leg to prevent Kersikov from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Egyptian trying to hold on to Kersikov's head to control him but Kersikov postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Egyptian is looking for a sweep. Kersikov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kersikov is controlling the pace.
Kersikov tries to pass to full mount but Egyptian defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Egyptian wants to get back to full guard. Egyptian wants to sweep but Kersikov has passed to side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Egyptian (0) vs (5) Kersikov Egyptian tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kersikov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kersikov is staying tight to Egyptian's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Who's going to make the next move? Egyptian is trying to control Kersikov's posture but Kersikov avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Egyptian tries to buck Kersikov off but Kersikov is having none of it. Kersikov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kersikov working away.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Egyptian is looking for a sweep. Egyptian wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Kersikov has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Egyptian's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Egyptian is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Kersikov!
