PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naoise Durnin (ranked 2045 p4p, 1402 weight class) and Lou Slugger (ranked 251 p4p, 180 weight class). Durnin comes into the arena with I'm Shipping Up To Boston by The Dropkick Murphy's blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Slugger's choice of entrance music: For Heavy Metal we will die!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Naoise Durnin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lou Slugger!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durnin tries to clinch there but Slugger circles away.
Despite the aggression on Slugger's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Durnin moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Lou Slugger has been cut.
Durnin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Slugger scores with a jab to the jaw.
Slugger throws a lazy right hand but Durnin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Slugger checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Slugger was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Durnin closes the distance and clinches.
Durnin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Slugger misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Durnin misses with an elbow over the top.
Durnin scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Durnin lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Durnin struggles to land a body shot inside as Slugger controls his hands.
Slugger lands a shot to the body.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Slugger.
Slugger lands a hook that snaps the head of Durnin backwards.
Slugger misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Durnin creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Slugger prevents a body shot from Durnin.
Slugger avoiding damage as Durnin throws knees to the body.

Slugger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Durnin throws an overhand right that lands on Slugger's shoulder, as Slugger tries to avoid the shot.
Slugger now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Durnin stalks Slugger and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Slugger's face. Slugger staggers backwards, shaken.
Durnin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Slugger tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Durnin throws a right hand that Slugger ducks under and follows up with a left that Slugger also avoids with ease.
Slugger was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Slugger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Durnin tries a head kick but it misses.
Slugger swings widly with a right hand
and Durnin counters with a straight right hand.

Durnin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Slugger misses with a punch on the inside.
Good body shot from Slugger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Slugger lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Durnin throws a punch but it's blocked by Slugger.
Slugger lands a body shot.
Durnin is breathing heavily.
Nice body punch from Slugger - that landed with a thud.
Slugger makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Slugger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slugger misses with a body kick.
Durnin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Durnin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Lou Slugger tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
