PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Devils Outlaw (ranked 1000 p4p, 734 weight class) and Ali Amir (ranked 132 p4p, 102 weight class). Outlaw comes to the cage accompanied by Moonshine Bandits For The Outlawz. The crowd seem to be enjoying Amir's choice of entrance music: Mastodon - Gobblers of Dregs. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Devils Outlaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Amir!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amir misses with a looping right.
Amir throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Outlaw drives through with a takedown into Amir's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Amir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Outlaw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Outlaw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Outlaw got a little sloppy there for a moment and Amir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Outlaw has managed to get both his arms back between Amir's legs - danger averted.

Amir is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amir has a closed guard, preventing Outlaw from standing up.

Amir has an active guard here but Outlaw has managed to pass into half guard.

Amir looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Outlaw pushes past his half guard into mount!
Amir is wriggling around trying to escape.
Outlaw tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amir tries to hold on but Outlaw pushes him away.
Amir is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Outlaw is looking to stand but Amir has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Amir tries to reverse the position but Outlaw maintains control.

Amir bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

My spies in Gunner's School of Combat inform me that Amir has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Outlaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Amir is controlling him.

Amir not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Amir trying to control but Outlaw is working from the bottom.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amir stops Outlaw from standing up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amir showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Outlaw.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The Devils Outlaw dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Amir keeps Outlaw at a distance using the push kick.
Amir throws a jab but it's blocked by Outlaw.
Outlaw misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A countering left hand to the body from Amir misses.
Amir moves away from the strike by Outlaw.
A head kick by Outlaw misses
and Amir counters with a left to the body.
Amir takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Amir connects with the punch.
Outlaw scores with a spinning back kick!
Donk. Outlaw catches Amir right on the button with a cross.
Amir ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Outlaw moves away.
The Devils Outlaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Amir stuns Outlaw with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Amir misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Outlaw.
Outlaw fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Amir avoids it really well and circles away.

Outlaw throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Amir connects with a nice looking jab.
Outlaw tries a head kick but it misses.
Outlaw tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A head kick misses from Outlaw.
Ali Amir seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Good exchange - Amir coming out on top.
Outlaw works the jab nicely.

It looks like Ali Amir has been cut.
Outlaw missing with a left hand there. Amir was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Outlaw slips under a jab from Amir.
Amir takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Amir dodges the punch combination from Outlaw.
Amir connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Outlaw misses with an uppercut. Amir saw that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Amir keeps Outlaw at a distance using the push kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Amir lands a slapping body shot.
Crack! A monster head kick from Amir and Outlaw falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Amir!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ali Amir!
An out of breath Ali Amir thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
