PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ansgar Thorsen (ranked 4462 p4p, 4320 weight class) and Balor Devlin (ranked 188 p4p, 145 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ansgar Thorsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Balor Devlin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Phil Schofield.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorsen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Devlin pinned against the cage. Devlin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Devlin tries to clinch up.
An inside leg kick from Thorsen misses.
Devlin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Thorsen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Thorsen throws a push kick but Devlin slaps the foot to one side.

Devlin instigates a clinch.
Thorsen prevents a body shot from Devlin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thorsen pulls guard successfully.
Devlin trying to control but Thorsen is working from the bottom.
Devlin throwing strikes but missing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Devlin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Devlin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Devlin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Devlin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Devlin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Thorsen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Devlin has passed into side control.
Thorsen is looking for a sweep.
Thorsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Devlin on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thorsen tries to escape but Devlin is in control.
Thorsen is trying to get back to half guard.
Thorsen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Devlin tries to move to mount but Thorsen blocks the move with his legs.
Thorsen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Thorsen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Devlin.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Devlin is working for a submission of some sort.
Thorsen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Devlin is working away from the top position though.

Balor Devlin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Devlin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
