Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 1906 p4p, 2573 weight class) and Chief Walker (ranked 242 p4p, 314 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Walker!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker throws a hook but Barnes blocks it.
Barnes jabs Walker to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Walker moves into range and clinches up with Barnes.
Walker avoids the elbow strike from Barnes, against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Walker fails to land.
Walker misses with the head strike.
A right hand to the body from Barnes.
Walker misses with a punch on the inside.
Walker blocks an elbow strike.
Walker tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Barnes tries to work over Walker's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Barnes throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Walkers head.
Barnes lands a body punch.
Walker has a couple of punches blocked by Barnes.
Walker dodges an elbow strike from Barnes.
Barnes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Walker prevents it.
Walker softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Barnes misses with a hook from the clinch.
Barnes misses with some punches.
Walker misses with some punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barnes lands with a right to the head.
Walker misses with the head strike.
Barnes has Walker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Barnes can't find room to land a body shot as Walker controls the action.
Walker prevents a body shot from Barnes.
Barnes blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Barnes is leaning against Walker and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Barnes misses with a body punch.
Walker is looking to take this one to the mat.
Walker throws a head punch that misses.
Barnes misses with some punches.
Walker misses with a hook from the clinch.
Barnes misses with a hook from the clinch.
Walker throws a head punch that misses.
Walker prevents a body shot from Barnes.
Barnes can't find room to land a body shot as Walker controls the action.
Walker scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Barnes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Barnes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Barnes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Walker wriggles free and stands up.
Walker has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barnes.
Barnes wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Barnes fails to land with a series of punches.
Barnes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Barnes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Barnes throws a nice outside leg kick.
Barnes sizes up Walker with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Walker pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Barnes takes one on the button.
Walker drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Walker throws a lazy right hand but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Walker closes the distance and pushes Barnes back into the cage.
Barnes blocking some punches.
A left hand lands to the body for Barnes.
Walker throws a head punch that misses.

Barnes wants the takedown. Walker is fighting it off but Barnes persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Walker's guard against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker can't keep his opponent in guard - Barnes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Walker pushes Barnes off looking to stand but Barnes dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barnes lands a nice short elbow.
Barnes working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Barnes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Walker wants to get back to his feet.
Barnes works his foot free and advances to mount.
Walker wants to try and get back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Barnes cracks Walker with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Barnes lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Walker is rocked!
Barnes scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Walker?
Walker is still in real trouble! Can Barnes finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!

Walker bucks Barnes off and manages to get back to his feet!
The fighters circle momentarily. Barnes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barnes pounces like a tiger and cracks Walker with a vicious hook! Walker is down but not out! Barnes follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Don Barnes!
Don Barnes decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
