Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hueng Son!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Red Eagle!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Son scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Red Eagle doesn't seem bothered though.

Son feints and as Red Eagle raises his hands in defense, Son changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Son seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Son tries to free his leg and advance position but Red Eagle is retaining full guard.
Son engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Son works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Son working the head and body with strikes.
Red Eagle tries to kick Son off but Son keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Son seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Son has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Red Eagle is trying to stand up here but Son is controlling him well.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Son throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Son decides to return to a standing position.
Chief Red Eagle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Son rushes Red Eagle and presses him up against the cage.
Son blocks an elbow strike from Red Eagle.

Red Eagle manages to break the clinch.

Son moves into the clinch.

Red Eagle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Son ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Son no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Son is controlling Red Eagle's posture.
Son tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Red Eagle trying to stand up but can't free himself from Son's guard.
Son trying to keep a closed guard but Red Eagle is proving a slippery customer.
Son has control of Red Eagle's left arm, preventing Red Eagle from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Red Eagle has closed the distance and engaged Son in a clinch.

Son breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Son instigates a clinch.
Son blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Red Eagle throws a punch but it's blocked by Son.
Son throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Red Eagle blocks it with crossed arms.
Red Eagle tries to throw a body punch but Son avoids it by throwing Red Eagle back against the cage.
Red Eagle misses with an elbow over the top.

Son manages to break the clinch.
Red Eagle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Son throws a quick counter head kick but Red Eagle was just out of range.
Chief Red Eagle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Red Eagle tries to clinch but Son moves out of range.

Red Eagle gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Son keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Red Eagle's efforts to push away.
Red Eagle misses with some punches.
Red Eagle swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Son jumps guard but Red Eagle turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Son successfully pulls guard.
Son throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Son wants to sweep but no luck.
Red Eagle is fighting to break Son's control of his arms but Son is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Son has his foot on Red Eagle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Red Eagle works his way back into a safe position though.
Red Eagle postures up.
Son wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Red Eagle wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Son's closed guard. He's half up but Son has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Son pivots and extends the arm, Red Eagle falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Son! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hueng Son!
In his post fight interview, Hueng Son started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
