This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; Dick Spots! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 10 losses; Gang ge! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Spots bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Spots (4) vs (0) ge ge tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spots is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but ge is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Spots is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Spots trying to control the position but ge is working away. ge manages to work his way to half guard, despite Spots's best efforts. ge felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. ge is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Spots pulls his head out easily. Spots definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Spots is keen to just control but ge is a slippery customer. Spots seems to be working for a kimura but ge defends the submission attempt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Spots seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. ge is defending against the submission attempts here by Spots.
