This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Carr Cartwright! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 5 losses; Thom Thumb!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Nice sprawl there from Thumb as Cartwright shoots in.
Cartwright tries for a takedown but Thumb sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Thumb goes for a double leg but Cartwright avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cartwright continues to drive forward.
Cartwright attempts a counter takedown but Thumb avoids it well and moves away.
Cartwright throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thumb's waist but Thumb gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cartwright off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carr Cartwright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cartwright shoots in looking for a takedown. Thumb tries to sprawl out of it but Cartwright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thumb manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Thumb is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cartwright wants to sweep but no luck.
Thumb tries to free his leg and advance position but Cartwright is retaining full guard.

Cartwright stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thumb swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thumb is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Cartwright rolls with it to try and escape but Thumb cranks on the arm and Cartwright is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
