Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Dunk (ranked 1797 p4p, 1981 weight class) and Jim Rhat (ranked 231 p4p, 256 weight class). Rhat has chosen Das Ist It as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Dunk! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jim Rhat! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunk lands a high kick!
It looks like Jim Rhat has been cut. Rhat steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Dunk. That one must have hurt. Rhat gets a clinch. Dunk is pressed up against the cage. Rhat has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dunk down to the mat. Dunk avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Dunk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rhat tries to clinch there but Dunk circles away.
Dunk looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Dunk tries to score with a low kick but Rhat moves his leg out of the way. Dunk throws a sloppy head kick and Rhat moves out of range easily. Jim Rhat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rhat clinches. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Dunk just misses with a elbow thrown towards Rhat's brow. Rhat on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rhat has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dunk is trying to keep an underhook but Rhat manages to get the takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Rhat prevents Dunk from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rhat is taking a breather. Dunk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rhat has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Hilo. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Rhat working over Dunk with some ground and pound. Dunk looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Rhat is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhat not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rhat is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Dunk is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jim Rhat! Jim Rhat is the new welterweight champion! After the fight, Jim Rhat was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
