PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Sebastian Burger (ranked 23549 p4p, 23509 weight class) and Major Pain (ranked 583 p4p, 621 weight class). Major Pain told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Burger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Major Pain!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burger lands a nice looking kick to the body. Pain takes a step back to recover.
Burger lands a high kick!
A shot to the liver by Pain. Beautiful body shot.
Burger moves out of range as Pain strikes.
Burger lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Pain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Burger lands with a kick to the temple. Pain shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Pain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Burger connects with a high kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pain throws a looping overhand right but Burger ducks down to avoid it.
Pain tries to clinch but Burger is having none of it.
Burger keeps the fight on the outside.

Pain rushes Burger and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Pain dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the ropes.

Pain manages to break the clinch.
Burger throws a head kick that Pain semi-blocks.
Pain takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Burger throws a sloppy head kick and Pain moves out of range easily.
A solid body kick from Burger.
Burger keeps the fight on the outside.
Burger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pain.
Pain tries a head kick but it misses.
Burger quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Pain throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Burger stuns Pain with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Pain. Those never looked like landing.
Burger throws a lazy right hand but Pain sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pain shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pain moves into range and clinches up with Burger.
Pain effectively controlling the action here.

Pain breaks the clinch.
Major Pain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
An attempted straight right counter from Burger misses the target.
Burger connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pain's hands.
Burger scoring well with a low kick there.

Pain tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burger was well out of range. Poor timing from Pain.

Pain rushes Burger and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Pain misses with a knee strike.
Burger throws a head punch that misses.
Burger wants to break the clinch but can't.
Burger looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Pain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pain misses with a combination
and Burger counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pain's knee momentarily.
Burger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pain tries to clinch
and Burger counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Pain gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Burger's efforts to push away.

Pain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pain closes the distance looking to clinch
and Burger counters with a nice kick to the body.
Pain connects with a looping right hand.
Pain gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Burger counters with a right hand to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pain fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Burger, pushing him back against the ropes.

Pain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Burger lands a high kick!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Pain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Burger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pain can do to turn this around?
Pain throws a nice looking combination but Burger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Burger pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pain throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Burger counters with an outside leg kick.
Burger looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Burger throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pain's head.
Major Pain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pain has Burger up against the ropes in a clinch.

Pain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pain closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Burger's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Pain manages to break the clinch.
Pain tries to clinch up but Burger circles away and keeps his distance.
Burger keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Pain moves into the clinch successfully.

Pain breaks the clinch.
Burger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pain was well out of range. Poor timing from Burger.
Pain tries a head kick but it misses.
Pain misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sebastian Burger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Burger lands a front kick to the face, that drops Pain to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!

Pain is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pain is still on wobbly legs! Can Burger finish him?

Burger prevents a body shot from Pain.
Pain seems to have recovered his senses.
We've been informed that Pain has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Burger dodges an elbow strike from Pain.
Burger can't break the clinch.
Pain is pushing Burger up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Burger wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Pain breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pain walks into a left hand.

Pain has managed to clinch.
Burger is trying to push Pain away but Pain has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

Pain manages to break the clinch.
Burger looks to land a left hand but Pain moved out of range nicely.
Pain ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Pain has closed the distance and engaged Burger in a clinch.
Pain misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Burger.

Pain clinches up with Burger and pushes him back against the ropes.

Burger scores with a head kick. Pain tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Burger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pain tries to counter with a clinch but Burger shakes him off and moves away.

Pain looks to clinch
and Burger takes the opportunity to counter with a picture perfect head kick, knocking Pain to the floor! He looks like he's going to get up 4,5,6,7,8... hurry up! 9, 10... he didn't make it! He's just getting back to his feet now but it's too late - this one is all over! Burger is your winner!
