PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Randleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter comes to the ring accompanied by La Roux - In For The Kill. Randleman has chosen UNBREAKABLE as his entrance music. Kevin Randleman acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kevin Randleman!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randleman swats away the attempt to clinch by Carter.
Carter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Carter.
Carter throws a series of punches but Randleman moves out of range.
No luck for Randleman with that takedown attempt.
Good shot there by Carter.
Carter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Randleman. That did some damage!

Randleman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carter is looking for a sweep. Randleman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Carter kicks Randleman off and gets back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Randleman.
Carter is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Randleman has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Randleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Randleman just content to control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carter stands and steps away. Randleman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Randleman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Carter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Carter throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Randleman wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
Randleman prevents Carter from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Randleman avoids the head kick by Carter.

Randleman shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Randleman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carter's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Carter duly obliges.
Randleman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Carter will probably get the nod.

Carter cracks Randleman with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A chopping leg kick lands by Carter.
Mike Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Randleman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Carter gets caught flat footed, as Randleman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Carter is looking to stand up but Randleman isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter has his foot on Randleman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Randleman works his way back into a safe position though.
Carter wants to sweep but no luck.

Carter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Randleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Randleman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
