The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Kardi tries to keep at a distance but Rules has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rules changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kardi fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kardi is defended easily by Rules.
Rules is looking to counter the offense by Kardi and move into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kardi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rules is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rules wants to control but Kardi postures up.

Rules is looking to reverse the position.

Kardi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kardi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rules swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rules makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rules.

Rules is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kardi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rules gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kardi has his foot on Rules's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rules works his way back into a safe position though.

Kardi throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rules uses it to pass to side control.

Rules is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kardi defends it well.
Rules is trying to control. Kardi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kardi tries to get to full guard but Rules has control of the leg.

Rules maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kardi could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rules has cracked it and Kardi is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rules!
