This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Vladimir Tarlac! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Bobby Dent! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Dent looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Tarlac (0) vs (2) Dent Tarlac might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Dent has gone for a leg lock! Tarlac slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Tarlac (2) vs (2) Dent Tarlac is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Tarlac wants to control from the top but Dent keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tarlac is really struggling to control Dent but he's trying to hold on to the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tarlac wants to pass the guard but Dent is keeping the position. Tarlac wants to control from the top but Dent keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dent working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tarlac doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tarlac manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarlac gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Dent is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarlac controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Tarlac trying to control the position from guard on top but Dent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dent looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Dent keeping moving, preventing Tarlac from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tarlac slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Dent looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tarlac passes into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Tarlac (5) vs (2) Dent Tarlac looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Tarlac is looking to take a break and control but Dent is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dent struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dent is trying to get back to half guard. Dent regains half guard. Tarlac is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dent sees it coming and defends easily. Dent is not content to let Tarlac control the position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Tarlac is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dent has managed to free his arm - good work. Dent is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tarlac's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tarlac's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Tarlac (5) vs (6) Dent Dent tries to keep control of the position but Tarlac is staying busy. Tarlac is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dent gets his way!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Dent controlling the positon. Dent tightening his grip on Tarlac, looking for the choke.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Dent looking to break Tarlac's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tarlac remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Dent will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Dent wants to control the position but Tarlac frees himself and scrambles - Dent manages to regain control in side control.
Dent looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Dent is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tarlac has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Dent trying to control the action but Tarlac is working from the bottom. Dent wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tarlac, who protects the arm well. Tarlac tries to buck Dent off but Dent is having none of it.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Dent is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tarlac knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dent taking a break here but Tarlac is having none of it and regains half guard. Dent controlling the action here. Dent wants to control but Tarlac is keeping him busy.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Tarlac desperately trying to maintain half guard. Dent keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Tarlac is not content to let Dent control the position. Dent looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tarlac is looking to improve his position.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Dent wants to pass to mount but Tarlac is defending the position. Tarlac is staying active underneath Dent, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Dent wants to work for an arm triangle but Tarlac is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dent is looking for a kimura but Tarlac is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dent to get the leverage.
And that's the end of the fight! Dent wins on points by 10 to 7. Bobby Dent took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'Fighting is better than a cheese sandwich'. Vladimir Tarlac was interviewed post fight and said 'Thanks for all the fun times and all the memories this is my last ride'. |
