This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 47 wins and 25 losses; Tyrano Jackson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 12 losses; Michael Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Cruz has a takedown stuffed.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Cruz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Cruz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cruz is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Cruz circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Cruz sprawls well.
Cruz wants to counter with a clinch but Jackson pushes him away.

The referee asks Cruz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cruz prefers to stall for the moment though.

Cruz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

Cruz felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
