This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Lasse Virinen! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Pete Brown! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ben Hemmingworth and Ben Watson.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Virinen shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense. Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Virinen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Virinen misses with a takedown attempt - Brown sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Virinen gets tackled into the cage by Brown. Brown maintains the clinch. Virinen jumps guard and drags Brown to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Virinen pulls Brown in close to prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Virinen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Brown stays in close to Virinen's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brown looking to sit in guard and control but Virinen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brown for as long as he can get away with. Virinen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well. Virinen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
